Hello, 2011

class Sample : Object {
void greeting () {
stdout.printf ("Hello World\n");
}

static void main (string[] args) {
var sample = new Sample ();
sample.greeting();
}
}

(or, in non-Vala English, "Hello, world!")

Hey all! It's been a while since we last updated this blog of ours, but look forward to continuing weekly updates, probably Sunday evenings but maybe Monday mornings. We'll see.

Things are going quite well and hectic here in the 408 (that's San Jo to all you non-Yay Area folks). The weather has been all over the place during the past months, but the last several days have been consistently warm and sunny. We miss a lot of things about New York, but the -14 degree winters are not one of them.

Life has been VERY busy for us here in SJ. Nicole works literally 90+ hours a week because several people have been let go from her project and she's about the only fully-committed person left working on that particular project. Hopefully that will change by March at the latest, but it's been several weeks of heck and will continue to be that way for the foreseeable future. It's a fantastic start to her career, but quite taxing on her. Fortunately she's working had for a reason: she's been given duties and responsibilities far above her position (and pay!) and she's executing amazingly. Hopefully the ROI will be solid.

As for Jesse, he's still being taken advantage of by Starbucks and wasting time / money / energy at school... in all seriousness, he has been working very hard at getting a promotion and busting his buns to get through school. Having been diagnosed with Adult ADHD and getting medication for that has helped a lot, too, and he's looking forward to tackling classes at a local college with his mind and focus intact! Woo! Hold on, West Valley / Mission College(s), here comes JMoney. He has also refined his chosen career path from general Computer Science to something more specific: Management Information Systems. It's a similar degree, but it incorporates business and project management.

The kids are also faring well. Lucy is her healthy, plucky self. She is always cute, always loving, always ready to play, and always a good little girl. Our cat buddy, Gizmo, is also doing well and is the healthiest he's probably ever been in his (very difficult) life. Now he loves his quiet, safe home and eats only the best kitty food (sorry, Treg, he LOVES Castor & Pollux treats, but he can't get enough of his Wellness wet food).

Yay! We're going to Disneyland for Valentine's Day / Nicole's birthday ( February 14th and 15th, respectively). We're super excited as neither one of us has been to the Happiest Place on Earth in some time, we've never gone together, and come on ... it's Disneyland! Expect us to get our act together regarding pictures, and we'll certainly post them online for all to enjoy. Can't wait!

Sorry it's been a while since we updated this weblog (or just blog, for short). Count on weekly updates from here on out. Talk to y'all soon!
